I have worked with Helen Casey Interiors, now HCDA, for many years. The key to their involvement with me was that they pushed hard to get what they believed was right for the Hotel, not for me. This I appreciated after each development as it transpired their view was for the better. Every area that they designed gave me great longevity & minimal maintenance. Our first project was our award winning Nadur spa in 2005 & a block of 18 bedrooms. This was done to a world class level & its design & finishes today remain completely unchanged. Helen & Myra went beyond their role to stress design changes that influenced the architect for our betterment. The interiors applied were of such standard that they remain in perfect condition 12 years on. The brief I gave was clear, it was well interpreted & implemented & Nadur is a very successful spa as a result of many factors most notably design & interiors. The Pavilion is our events room that was built primarily to house drinks receptions. Helen strongly influenced me to go with a completely different finish to what I had in mind. This room has evolved into an events room, Occasion dining room & conference room. It was a superb development & is timeless. When I built my own house Helen & particularly Myra were key to applying our lifestyle to the house design. Through 3D imagery & graphic design I was dissuaded from making a fundamental error in design. The best of advice & materials were applied to a classic finish that will do us proud for years to come. We built a fitness suite that they helped with, refurbished bedrooms, designed a colour pallet for the entire outside of the hotel, designed mood lighting for garden lights & many more projects in-between. Our largest challenge was the past 3 years with a 5 million development of the entire ground floor. This comprised of the Brasserie, Restaurant 58, Residents lounge, Bar, Office space, Bathrooms etc. The work applied here was outstanding by HCDA’s design team. I was very adamant that the design would be very mindful of the need for hard wearing surfaces & easily maintained finishes in the food service areas. They interpreted this superbly & applied their knowledge throughout. Eoghan worked on the ‘Restaurant 58’ design and graphics to help us decide on a mood & truly was money well spent. They have served me & the business really well over the past 14 years. We designed, disagreed, haggled & got on with it………… but the end result was outstanding & will serve a generation to come.
